About me
I'm Jason, I'm from Berlin, and I'm learning how to support children and young people in their everyday lives professionally.
Who I am
I'm a practical person. I like to pitch in, whether that's setting up for an event, working in a workshop or standing behind a counter. I enjoy sitting at the computer and building my own websites just as much.
What ties it all together is working with people. I listen, explain things patiently and prefer working in a team. That's why I chose training in the field of social pedagogy.
My time at school
From 2021 to 2025 I attended Best-Sabel-Oberschule in Berlin, where I earned the Berufsbildungsreife (BBR), a vocational school-leaving certificate. During that time I also gained my first hands-on experience of the working world.
My hands-on experience
At BUG Verkehrsbau SE I gained insight into track construction, civil engineering and mechanical engineering from November 2023 to February 2024, followed by another practical week in summer 2024. On a construction site you quickly learn how much care, safety and teamwork matter.
After that I did two internships at Mellowpark: in the kitchen from December 2024 to February 2025, and in woodworking from March to June 2025. Both are areas where you have to work precisely – and at the end you can see what you've achieved.
The sentences about what these stops taught me are my own view.
My Federal Volunteer Service
From September 2025 I was at Landhaus Rosenthal, a leisure centre for children and young people in Berlin – first as an intern, then in the Federal Volunteer Service (Bundesfreiwilligendienst) until August 2026.
- After a short induction, I ran the centre's café on my own. The café is a meeting point for children, young people and families, where games and sports equipment can also be borrowed.
- I played with children, supported them in everyday situations and helped shape practical, creative and craft activities.
- At events I helped with preparation and running them, and with setting up and taking down stands and seating.
- Small repairs were also part of my work.
- Later on, I showed new interns the ropes – something I especially enjoyed.
During this time I also took part in a first aid seminar covering babies, children and adults.
My current training
Since 2026 I've been training as a social pedagogical assistant (Sozialpädagogischer Assistent) at the Berufliche Schule für Sozialwesen Pankow. I'm in my first year.
I want to combine my hands-on experience with the professional knowledge I gain in training. More on the Social pedagogy page.
My interests and strengths
I'm interested in technology and digital topics, music, being active, craft and creative projects – and, of course, working with children and young people. More under Interests.
